Show T ' ; f : . 1 Patricia Butler receives award Butler receives national award PatrieiaLouise Butler, Beryl, a senior student at Cedar High School, recently won the Utah portion of the competition in the National Council of Teachers of ' .English Achievement" A wards, in Writing for 1981. . ' : This is the second year in a row that this honor has come to a student at CHS. Last year's winner was Michael Leon Chidester, Cedar City. . Butler received the word from Donna Parker, president of the Utah Council of Teachers of English. Parker's comments to Butler included in-cluded the following: "It . is with sincere , satisfaction that I notify you of your winning entry in the statewide N.C.T.E. Writing Contest. Your accomplishment deserves the highest praise. Both you and your teachers are to be commended for the level of excellence displayed in the entry submitted." The Utah Council of Teachers of English honored Butler and her English teacher, Douglas G. Bonzo at its fall convention, con-vention, and the National Council will be recommending recom-mending her for scholarships. She is a member of the Advanced Placement English class taught by Bonzo, English Department Depart-ment chairman at the school. She is also a debater and president of the Forensics Club. |
