Show Concert favorites to be aired This week's Chicago Symphony broadcast features a program of popular concert favorites directed by James Levine. It will be aired over KGSU-FM, the Southern Utah State College radio station, at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Opening with the overture to "Candide" by Leonard Bernstein, the program also includes the well-know "Finlandia" by Sibelius, George Enesco's Rumanian Rhapsody No. 1. Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet" overture, the "Carnival" overture by A n t o n i n Dvorak, Smetana's "The Moldau" and "The Stars and Stripes Forever" by John Philip Sousa. Also on the program is Aaron Copland's suite from "Billy the Kid," a ballet based on the real-life real-life legend of William Bonney, the Brooklyn-born Brooklyn-born desperado of the Wild West, which touches on the chief episodes of his life, from his childhood as a boy of 12 who avenges his mother's accidental death, to the events leading up to, the 'shooting of Billy by Sheriff Pat Garrett, a former friend. KGSU-FM is located at 90.1 megahertz on the radio dial. |
