X-country runners prepare for meet Cross country runners from Southern Utah State College will take this week off and train like the dickens for their own invitational meet October 23. "We intend to use our week off to work hard and continue our recent improvement," Boyd Adams, SUSC coach, indicated.- "We had our best times of the year last week in some less-than-ideal weather conditions. If we can continue that kind of improvement, we'll significantly improve im-prove our placing in the upcoming conference meet." SUSC actually finished fifth in a five-team field at the University of Utah Invitational, but Adams pointed out that the finish was misleading. "Our times were pretty good-better good-better than they've been and there were a bunch of unattached runners. Our kids beat some pretty good competition," com-petition," he said. Brjgham Young University won the Utah Invitational with 19 points. Following in order were Weber State (63), Utah State (79), Utah (82) and SUSC (106). Individually, SUSC's Gordon Hyde finished 16th (26:24), Chad Jones 17th (26:30), Dave Webb 27th (27:19), Kee Yazzie 29th-(27:23), Dale Cable 40th (28:01) and Stacy Whitmore 50th (29:47).
