Show Volleyball team plans schedule One tuneup match this week, then its live consecutive con-secutive matches against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams for the Southern Utah State College women's volleyball team. The Thunderbirds host Snow College Thursday at 7 p.m. for the tuneup, then they start their series against RMAC teams Monday at home against Adams State College. On October 23 and 24, the 'Birds finish their Western Division RMAC schedule with games at Mesa and Western State. SUSC will also meet Regis College once at Grand Junction and once at Gunnison on the same dates. "We are going to work hard this week on service receipts, and we are also going to attmept to get a little more movement," Joy Peterson, SUSC coach, indicates. "We've been a little 'dozy' on offense. We want to get considerably more aggressive on our hits." SUSC will be going for iLs sixth straight RMAC win ot the season against Adams State. The T-Bird conference record is 5-0; overall, the team is 12-10. In the first meeting between the two teams, SUSC whipped the Indians, In-dians, 15-12, 16-14, 15-6 at Alamosa, Colorado. "We got good play from Gloria Grover, Lori Mc'Curdy, and Paula Burgoyne against Mesa Friday, but as a team, I'm not sure we are playing as good as we were earlier in the season," Peterson says. "We need to build our intensity and to become tougher mentally." II SUSC can capture their fourth straight RMAC championship, post season play will start November 7 for the Birds. The conference championship will be determined November 5 at the home court of the Western Division winner. |
