Show 1981 deer season, to open Satmrday Qutlook somewhat promising Millard County and 7 (lays in Beaver, Washington, Iron, Kane and Garfield counties. Here is the outlook lor the six-eounty area of southwestern Utah. Millard County The Fillmore and Kanosh areas should experience excellent hunting this year. "There should be good success up there," says Coles. "We've had good production up there the past few years," Hunting should be fair to good in other parts of Millard County. Parowan-Paragonah Fair to good hunting should abound this year in the Parowan-Paragonah Parowan-Paragonah area. "We had a fair hunt there last year," says Coles. The deer survival rate has been good through the i past winter and this year's hunt should be good, though not as good as further north. Pine Valley The east side of the Pine Valley mountains, from Cedar running south, will be closed this year. This is officially known as herd unit 61-A and includes the New Harmony area and those areas west of Cedar and Hurricane along 1-15. The west side of Pine Valley mountain, near Pine Valley and Cen-terville, Cen-terville, will see fair hunting this year. Kolob The Kolob-Nava jo Lake area, which includes land headed toward Zion, will be poor hunting this year. There is a lot of posted, private land in this unit, and hunters should be certain to seek permission per-mission from land owners before hunting on posted property. Enterprise and west Hunting should be pretty good in the area surrounding Enterprise and on the western desert. The area is much dryer than the mountainous moun-tainous terrain closer to Cedar City. South Boulder Real slow hunting will occur in the south Boulder Mountains. The area north of Kanab will be closed for the 1981 season. Hunter Phil Blad displays a very nice four-point that he nailed during the recent bow hunt. Outlook for the upcoming hunt is very good according to Utah Division of Wildlife officials. |
