Show LaVERKIN Pansy L. Hardy Reporter LaVerkin put over a full day's program for July 4th, with a public pub-lic meeting in the early forenoon, with races, contests and children's dance during the afternoon. Miss Afton Wilson was Goddess of Liberty Lib-erty with Janice Neilson and Ger-aldine Ger-aldine Wilson as attendants. The morning program was sponsored by the M. I. A. and the afternoon sports were directed by Max Woodbury and Horatio Gubler, under the supervision of the town board. Mrs. Vernon Church accompanied accompa-nied relatives to Salt Lake City last Thursday to attend the funeral fun-eral services for her aunt, Mrs. May Cox. Mrs. Walter Segler and son, John, have gone to Florida to meet Mr. Segler, who has just completed a six months' mission in the southern states. They plan to visit relatives in Mississippi on the way home. Mr..Segler's parents par-ents were L. D. S. converts from Mississippi and moved to La Verkin when their children were small. This will be their first visit back to their former home. A group of friends entertained at a watermelon and weiner supper sup-per last Saturday evening honoring honor-ing the birthday anniversary of LaFel Iverson. Miss Clara LeBaron, who is employed em-ployed in St. George, was home Sunday visiting, accompanied by Miss Betty Covington. Miss Pearl Webb, who has employment em-ployment in Salt Lake City, is here visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Vcrl Sanders and Miss Fae Sanders spent the past week at Hatch, visiting. Theme of our Sunday Sacrament Sacra-ment meeting was, "The Value of Friends". Bill Sanders and Melba Booth sang, "Beautiful Homo", accompanied ac-companied by Afton Wilson. Mrs. Esther West brook and Miss Diane Williams of Washington are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. LaFel Iverson. On Monday evening the Iversons, their guests, and a few friends enjoyed a weiner roast in honor of the birthday anniversary an-niversary of Mrs. Iverson. Mrs. Neil lleywood and children of Las Vegas were guests of Mr; LaVcll Hinton, mother of Mr lleywood, during last week. Mr. and Mrs. Wickley Gubler ' and family spent the Fourth on fishing trip.
