Show LaVERKIN Pansy L. Hardy Reporter Wickley Gubler had the honor of being appointed as a member of the Zion Park high council during dur-ing the quarterly conference held Sunday in Hurricane. Mrs. Willard Pectol is at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Gifford .recuperating from a recent illness. Mr. and Mrs. LaFell Iverson attended at-tended the funeral in Washington Monday for his sister, Mrs. Roy Pectol. Sgt. Phil Squire who is stationed sta-tioned at Camp White, Medford, Ore., is spending this week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lorin D. Squire. This is his first furlough fur-lough in more than 20 months of service. Pvt. James Harris, who is stationed sta-tioned at Lincoln, Neb., training in aviation mechanics, was sent home for a short furlough last week visiting his wife, the former Ora Hardy. The monthly Primary officers preparation meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Mary A. Gubler Monday with Lucile Gubler co-hostess. co-hostess. Party for Karl Church About 30 members of the Sunday Sun-day school superintendency and teachers met Monday evening in a farewell party for Karl Church, who has served as second counselor coun-selor in the superintendency. A fine program was presented, in-eluding in-eluding a reading, "Modern Martyr", by Alice Gubler; two songs, "When You're A Long Way from Home", and "There's A Star-Spangled Star-Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere", Some-where", by a girls' chorus, including includ-ing Lavon and Ramona Gubler, Dixie DeMille, Shirley Hinton and Afton Stratton, with Thora Gubler accompanying; readings, "The Bishop", and a dialect number by Camilla Judd; harmonica and ac-cordian ac-cordian selection "Peek-A-Boo", Clarence Sanders; solo, "When the Lights Go On Again All Over the World", by Bill Sanders; piano solo, Afton Wilson; solo, "I Hain't Got No Use for Sleep", Cyrus Gifford. Wilford Thompson paid tribute to Karl Church, who responded re-sponded with words of appreciation. appreci-ation. Dancing and light refreshments refresh-ments followed. Hold Reunion Mrs. Glendon's Primary Trail Builders boys held their reunion at the home of Mrs. Alice Gubler Saturday evening. Mrs. Glendon has been absent several years but the annual reunion has been sponsored spon-sored by Mrs. Gubler and Mrs. Harriet Woodbury. Present with their partners were Mark Graff, Paul Webb, Delwin Hinton, Jack Eanes, Karl Church and Don Squires. Of this group, Jac, Don, Karl and Delwin leave soon for induction into the U. S. armed forces. |
