Show Farm WAR NEWS Certificates of Farm War Service to be given farm families of Washington county who have enlisted en-listed in the huge 1943 food production pro-duction program will be ready for distribution as soon as the 1943 sign-up is completed. The 11x14-inch 11x14-inch certificates signed by the Secretary of Agriculture, Claude R. Wickard, will be persented by the county war board. This certificate cer-tificate is a simple word of appreciation ap-preciation and encouragement to the soldiers of the soil. Farm families are on their honor not to eat more meat, butter but-ter and cheese than has been al-loted al-loted to their neighbors in town. The OPA urges farmers to market most of their produce and retain for themselves only an amount equivalent to what they could buy with ration book number 2. Farmers and ranchers of Washington Wash-ington county were warned this week that they have only until Mar. 31st, to file an application in the county AAA office for payment pay-ment on the 1942 program. Wilford A. Schmutz, chairman of the county AAA committee urged all farmers and ranchers in the county who are entitled to payment and who have not filed an application with the county committee to do so at once. If applications are not filed before Mar. 31st, no payments on the 1942 program can be made, he said. . |
