Show Dixie College Annua! Founders' Day Program To Be Held Friday, 26th Day's Events Begins With Whitewashing of 'D Ends With Annual Ball Chauncey Sandberg of Hurricane will be the principal speaker in the Founders' Day program tomorrow to-morrow morning at 10:30 in the Tabernacle. The program is one of the features of the annual Dixie Day celebration. Besides Mr. Sandberg's address, there will be short tributes to the founders by a representative from each of the four college classes. Music will be under the direction of Earl J. Bleak, Ruth Falck and J. W. McAllister. At 10 o'clock the Dixie Day parade will be held, with the college col-lege classes and faculty representing represent-ing various phases of the day's theme, "Dixie Fights, Too." The day's activities will close with the lighting of the "D" with torch fires at dark, followed by the Dixie Day dance. At the dance, VerNell Chamberlain will be crowned queen of the "D" in a ceremony prepared by Margaret Jones, Pauline Fuller and Ann Robinson. The queen's attendants will be Alene Allen, Cherril Snow, Iva Lou Johnson, Yvonne Jackson, Florence B e a 1 1 y and Wyona Barney. At sunrise the college students will give the "D" its annual bath of whitewash. The campus and building will also receive their spring cleaning. At noon the classes and faculty will enjoy lunch on the Black Hill. At this time a program of toasts and stunts will be given. In the afternoon there will be a softball game between the upper and lower division students, also a tug of war. These contests will be held at the football field. The public is invited and urged to join in the day's activities. |
