Show Fine Results Obtained In College Drama Festival "Numerically small, but educationally educa-tionally big" was the verdict of the first annual Dixie junior college col-lege drama festival committee last Friday at the conclusion of the day's activities. Miss Myrtle Henderson, Hen-derson, sponsor, was high in her praise of the good accomplished. Ratings made and diagnosis given should prove very helpful to all who participated, she stated. Receiving the highest rating were: Hannah Terry, humorous reading; Marilyn Cox, Dixie, dramatic dra-matic reading; Elwyn Cameron, Woodward, acting; and Gwen Sylvester Syl-vester and Dorothy Hirschi, Dixie, . acting. Miss Adelia Hall and her Woodward cast also received "excellent" "ex-cellent" rating for their work in the one-act play, "His First Girl". Judges for the festival were: Grant Redford, director of speech instruction at the B. A. C. ; Mrs. Beth Schmutz, former speech instructor in-structor at the Woodward and the Dixie college; and Mrs. Ruth Hafen, with a college major in speech. The visitors from Hurricane and the Woodward, also officials of the festival, were entertained at a luncheon at noon. Contests included humorous readings, read-ings, dramatic readings, public addresses ad-dresses and one-act plays. |
