Show Hurricane Cops First Round Tournament Game Typhoons Picked As One Of Best In Tourney Following Opening Round Hurricane slipped into the position of one of the favored teams when they ousted the strong Murray team in the first round of the State Tournament by a score of 38-34. . Especially impressive was the win due to the fact that Verl Langston was forced out in the first quarter of the game. Displaying a fighting team, for which Dixieland teams have always al-ways been famous, Coach Walter Brook's boys came back after the loss of Langston in the first quarter to show that the team that won't be beaten can't be beaten. The boys were wild at times, but came through when the baskets bas-kets really counted. With Langston Langs-ton back in the line-up to help steady the team, experts predict that the Typhoons will be hard to beat. With the first game under un-der their belts, the Hurricane lads should lose some of their nervousness nervous-ness and settle down to play topflight top-flight ball. Terry was high man for Hurricane, Hurri-cane, scoring 10 points. Langston got 7 in the short time he was in the game. Stratton scored 6, Brockmier 4 and DeMille 2. This game was proclaimed the best game of the afternoon and the Hurricane team proved to be the best crowd-pleaser on the opening day. The Typhoons tackle Logan today to-day in the second game of the afternoon. Logan beat the strong Snow team yesterday 30-29, so that this game should be a thril-ler-diller. |
