Show RECEPTION FOR DIXIE FLIERS Party Returned Wednesday Evening from Chicago and Accorded Rousing Welcome The Dixie high school basketball team returned to St. George Wednesday Wednes-day evening and were given a royal welcome. Representatives of the city, school, chamber of commerce, and students stu-dents and townspeople met the party in Washington and escorted them to St. George. The procession was headed head-ed by the school band and there were at least fifty cars, all loaded to capacity, capac-ity, in line. The procession stopped at the tabernacle taber-nacle corner where a short welcoming reception was accorded the team. The school song was sung by all, accompanied accom-panied by the band. Mayor Henry T. Atkin expressed his great pleasure in welcoming the boys home and expressed appreciation of the citizens for the splendid showing made by the team. Chairman Walter Cannon then announced an-nounced that the celebration would be continued later the same night in the gymnasium after the Woodward school entertainment. There was a large attendance in the gymnasium to participate in the reception re-ception program. Dancing was indulged in-dulged in until about 10 o'clock when a program of about an hour's duration was given, commencing with the "Sky-racket" "Sky-racket" and other school yells. Prcf. J. W. McAllister led in singing the school song. Chairman Walter Cannon expressed appreciation for the good work by-Coach by-Coach Leland Hafen and asked Mr. Hafen to tell the people all about it. Coach Hafen told how zealously his team had worked the past two years with the object of winning the state championship and then bring national honors to the school. The trip to Chicago Chi-cago was a very pleasant one, there being 16 in the party, and they had a pullman coach to themselves. He praised very highly the Canton team which defeated the Dixie boys. Said the crowd was with the Dixie team. Thanked all for help in sending the team to Chicago. Captain Elwood Romney showed the basketballs won and told from whom. Showed medals and fobs, each member of the team and the coach being presented pre-sented with one by the national organization. organ-ization. Said he enjoyed the trip very much, also enjoyed trying to win honors hon-ors for the school. Captain Romney, Coach Hafen and. everyone who spoke paid very high tribute tri-bute to Dr. Donald A. McGregor, who accompanied the team to Chicago, for his professional and fatherly care and solicitude. Lorraine Cox and Carl Stra.tton, who finish high school this term, said they had done their best for the school and intended to go to the college team and do their best to help bring honors home to the college. Hearty rahs were given these players play-ers both of whom praised their coach very highly. Dr. McGregor said the boys were wonderful and behaved splendidly. Glad to have had the opportunity of accompanying them. Three hearty rahs were given for Dr. McGregor, after af-ter which "The Spirit Of Old Dixie" was sung, concluding the program.
