Show Currently Speakingl By Moon Lake Electric Association, Inc. YOUR HOME WORKSHOP IS NOT THE PLACE TO BE ABSENT-MINDED First, buy power tools with the lowest horsepower adequate for the work to be done. Make sure that all of your power tools have a grounded, three-prong outlet and an Underwriter's Laboratories label. Then, stay alert to the proper use and care of those tools. Keep cutting edges sharp. A dull blade uses more power than a sharp one, because it takes longer to cut. Oil on bits and saws reduces friction. Keep your wits about you when you leave your workshop. Make sure shop lights are out and gluepots, soldering irons, and all bench heating devices are turned off immediately after use. Absent-mindedness in the workshop can be costly in both safety and energy use. |
