Show MILLER PLACES FIRST American Johnny Miller subdued Seve Ballesteros of Spain with a routine par on the ninth hole of a sudden death playoff Sunday and won the biggest prize ever offered of-fered in this history of golf in one of the game's great showdowns. After struggling through two hours of playoff activity with $340,000 hanging on every shot, Ballesteros finally made the mistake that let Miller escape with the title ti-tle in the Sun City Million Dollar Golf Challenge in Bophuthatswana. Miller, once the game's Golden Boy, but self proclaimed pro-claimed as the fifth man in the elite event, also claimed $500,000 when Ballesteros three putted from 50 feet on the ninth playoff hole. Miller and Ballesteros finished the regulation 72 holes tied at 11 under par 277. Each shot a 71 over the last 18 holes of regulation. regula-tion. ABow for Ham Encores When selecting your Easter ham, take a tip from budget-minded budget-minded shoppers who buy hams larger than needed for initial service. They count on several pounds of leftover ham to provide the makings for easy and economical entrees for several follow-up meals. The addition of cubes or strips of ham makes baked beans, macaroni maca-roni and cheese, creamed potatoes, pota-toes, Spanish rice and scrambled scram-bled eggs special, point out home economists at the National Nation-al Live Stock and Meat Board. Or put that flavorful ham in a chef salad or canned potato or pea soup for a satisfying entree. |
