Kooseveltf Rough Riders Roosevelt Junior IIif!h was thumped by Canyon View of Huntington, 58 to 43, Friday, in the first round of the Vernal Invitational, but the Hough Riders from Roosevelt recovered from their first round loss as they thumped Craig, Colorado, Col-orado, 63 to 54 and crushed Canyon View of Huntington, 60 to 48, for revenge and the consolation crown. The Rough Riders jumped out to a 15 to 3 lead in the third place contest with Huntington. Roosevelt oulscored Huntington Hun-tington 17 to 10 in the second quarter for a 32 to 13 advantage. The score at the end of the third quarter was : Roosevelt, 46 and Huntington, 34. Roosevelt and Huntington put in 14 points in the fourth quarter to make the final score, Roosevelt, 60 and Huntington, 48. Jim Trowbridge was the top scorer for Roosevelt with 17 points on eight field goals and one free throw. Trevor Roberts fired in 14 points on five field goals and four free throws. Also scoring counters for Roosevelt were: James White, 8; Ricky Nielsen, 8; Ted Sum-merall, Sum-merall, , Mike Dastrup, 4 and Eddie Martinez, 2. Roosevelt put in 8 out of 10 free throws and hit 26 field goals. Huntington's Hun-tington's top scorers were Hanson and Ward at nine points. Craig had a 19 to 13 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Roosevelt rallied for a 34 to 26 advantage after two quarters of action. Roosevelt outscored Craig, 20 to 8, for a 20-point lead of 54-34 in the third quarter. The final score was: Roosevelt, 63 and Craig, 54. The Rough Riders' Trevor Roberts ripped the net for 29 points. He put in 12 field goals and hit 5 out of 8 free throws.
