Show Xi Alpha Xi visits Rome Xi Alpha Xi sorority chapter progressed pro-gressed further into the program tour of our foreign neighbor countries, Jan. 21, with a meeting in the home of Theda Murray. President Carolyn Pollard called the meeting to order for discussion of business with sixteen members present. pre-sent. Following the opening ritual, minutes were read and brief committee reports reviewed. Members were informed of the chapter pledge ritual for the new pledges to be held Feb. 5 in the home of Carolyn Johnson. A salad supper will conclude the evening. Gerri Voyles, Ways & Means Chairman, Chair-man, commended members for their hard work and interest concerning the progress on the quilt to be given away at the Sweetheart Ball. A special tribute was given to Pat Searle for her donation of time and effort in making the quilt for this fund raising project. Also at the time, members expressed appreciation for the continued community com-munity support. Proceeds will be used for service within the community. Jeanie Orr, Service, introduced a very special guest of the evening, Ricky Moore and his mother, Mrs. Richard Moore. Ricky was a treat to members as he was the club's chosen child at Christmas time. Business concluded at 8:30 p.m. and Lois Harbison introduced Francis Crenshaw Cren-shaw to present the cultural program on Rome. Recently, Francis and her husband took an eight day pictorial tour of the ancient city and she shared many slides of her memories. Members were speechless, reviewing the Vatican, St. Peter's Square and the beautiful city of Florence. Architecture Architec-ture and sculpture of marble, in its natural colors, bronze and gold inlaid were indescribable. Impressing members even more was Francis' narration nar-ration of the history with each picture. A social hour followed with the hostess treating members to an Italian meal of authentic foods. |
