Manila 4-H leaders are to attend an iay Sweetwater County District 4-H Leader's meeting in Rock Springs at the fairgrounds at 9 a.m. January 30. Homemakers Club officers will be meeting at the fairgrounds for a training train-ing meeting at 10 a.m. January 29. Those attending are asked to bring a sack lunch. The license examiner will be at the Daggett County Courthouse Thursday, January 31, to give driver's license tests. The bookmobile was in Manila last Friday, January 18. The Men's Recreational League plays basketball at the Manila High School gymnasium each Thursday night. Teams in the league are from Manila, Dutch John, McKinnon, Wyoming Wyom-ing and Mountain View, Wyoming. Mr. and Mrs. Rick Ellsworth and daughter Dezaree were in Salt Lake City Ci-ty this weekend where Rick received medical attention. Johnny Rogers and Christy Behunin reigned as King and Queen of the homecoming dance Friday night, Jan. 25. Their first attendants were Blenda Larsen and Neil Lamb. Their second attendants at-tendants were Penny Beck and Kurt Reed. The students had decorated the school halls in anticipation of the homecoming. Just at dark they burned the big "M" on the hill behind the Manila High School. Monica Wilde was chosen as "Miss Mustangette" by the Mustangettes who marched at half time of the basketball game the boys played against Park City before the dance. The Manila Mustangs lost to Park City, 96 to 53. JoAnn Ralphs, Daggett County March of Dimes Chairman, reports that "ScrfarSOT hasteerrreeptved in contribution con-tribution in Daggett County and some more is expected. Of the $320 received, $62 was received from the Dutch John area where Judy Harris was the worker; $23 was received from the Birch Creek area where Pat Beck was the helper; Manila's contributions amounted to $232. Helpers in Manila were as follows: Aleta Ellsworth, Gloria Neff, Mabel Anderson, Carlene Reed, Dixie Grubb, Nancy Miller, Doris Zohner, Valerie Winer, Clara Robinson, Laurie Pay and JoAnn Ralphs. Snow-packed roads were blamed for another roll-over that occurred Saturday Satur-day on Highway 43, west of Manila. Sheriff Gaylen Jarvie reported that 2 fishermen from Ogden rolled their truck just west of the Albert Neff Ranch. Ran-ch. Both men suffered minor injuries which were attended to by a Daggett County EMT, Carol Ann Briggs. The M & L Homemakers Club was reorganized at the January meeting held Jan. 24, at the Senior Citizen Center in Manila. New officers are as follows: Ferl Briggs, president; Fern Ferrero, vice-president; Mary Jean Steinaker, secretary and treasurer. Other officers chosen were as follows: Mary Ruble, historian; Linda Beckstead, health; Doris Zohner, cultural arts; Clara Robinson, family life; and Mari Campbell, safety. There were 23 persons in attendance but quite a few others joined the club that evening. even-ing. Of the 23 in attendance the following follow-ing were new members: Brenda Douglas, Linda Pederson, Lisa Coulter, Judy Hamblin, Doris Zohner, Linda Palmer, and Melna Coleman. Names were drawn for secret pals for the coming com-ing year to be revealed at the Christmas party. It was decided to keep the 25 cent penalty for members who miss a meeting. To be eligible for the hamper drawing at the Christmas party, par-ty, each member must have attended 6 meetings at least, paid dues, and paid fines for missing meetings. This year for roll call each meeting members are to bring an item for the Senior Citizen Center. Should they forget to bring the item, they then will put money in a fund for the purchase of flatware for the Center. "It" packages were won and displayed by Lisa Coulter, Linda Slaugh, and Barbara Potter. Hostesses were the outgoing officers Linda SJaugh, Pat Stockton, and Mari Gene " Campbell. Temperatures dropped to 2 below Saturday night, Sunday's reading showed. show-ed. This is the coldest it has been since November 22, 1979. At no time this winter has it been as cold as it was last winter when it reached 22 below zero the last of December and the first of January. Three inches of snow fell Saturday and Sunday, bringing .20 of an inch of snow. This brings the January total precipitation to .47 compared with .57 last January.
