Show Lapoint-Tridell fire department douses 1 8 fires The first annual report of the Lapoint-Tridell Lapoint-Tridell Volunteer Fire Department showed a total fire loss of $15,167 in 18 fires representing a total estimated property value of $506,500. Organized on Jan. 16, 1979, the Lapoint-Tridell fire unit has a Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain and 31 firefighters. The fire department is made up of volunteers from the La point and Tridell areas, according to Chief Ernest J. Ahlborn. The organization has two pumper trucks, one 750 gallons per minute and one 250. One truck is located in Lapoint and the other in Tridell in a temporary building. A total of 247 man-hours were spent by the fire department at fires during 1979. Special and regular training sessions were conducted for members of the fire department with a total of 483 man-hours man-hours of training received during the year. The fire insurance rating for the La-point La-point and Tridell area has been reduced from the previous rating of a number 10, which is the highest, to an eight rating for structures within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant and a nine rating for all other areas. According to Chief Ahlborn the department is still working to improve the fire insurance rating by increasing the equipment water carrying capacity and the adopting of a Uintah County fire prevention code with a warden to enforce en-force the code. |
