Viking cccpers, 35 tfo 20 The Vernal Junior High girl hoopsters picked up their second Uintah Uin-tah Basin League win in a row when they toppled the West Junior High Vikings Vik-ings in Vernal, Thursday, 35 to 20. The win delivers a 5-2 record to Vernal in league play and gives the Panthers a 6-2 mark overall. West and Vernal were tied at 4-4 after one quarter of action. Michelle Green fired in Vernal's four points in the first quarter on two field goals. The Panthers Pan-thers jumped out to a 14 to 8 lead in the second quarter as they outscored West, 10 to 4. Vicki Fowler poured in six points for Vernal in the second quarter on three field goals, and Mari Green flipped in two two-pointers for four points. Vernal and West both scored eight points in the third quarter, and the Panthers Pan-thers had a 22 to 16 lead after three quarters of action. Michelle Green fired in four points on two field goals in the third quarter, and Deah Bennion, Vicki Fowler popped in two points each on one two-pointer. The Panthers bombed the Vikings, 13 to 4 in the fourth quarter, to make the final score: Vernal, 35 and West, 20. Vernal's Michelle Green ripped the net for eight points in the fourth quarter on three field goals and two free throws. Twin sister, Mari Green, fired in four points on two field goals, and Vicki Fowler popped in one free throw in the fourth quarter for Vernal. Michelle Green of Vernal was the top scorer in the game with 16 points. She put in seven field goals and hit two out of three free throws. Vicki Fowler poured in 9 points on four field goads and one free throw. Mari Green flipped in four field goals for eight points, and Deah Bennion put in one field goal for two points. Vernal hit 3 out of 6 free throws and put in 16 field goals. Vernal attempted all their free throws in the fourth quarter. The top scorer for West Junior High was Shelton with ten points on five field goals. Reed put in two field goals for four points and Collier, Lucero, Serawop tossed in two points each.
