Ashley PTA looking toward another year By Eleanor Rust We are looking forward to a great year at Ashley Elementary, as a new school year begins on Monday, Aug. 25. The new PTA officers have been busy all summer preparing for the new year, and they extend a special welcome back to all students, teachers and school personnel. Nearly all of the children were registered this past week at Ashley Elementary with the assistance of new PTA officers and volunteer mothers. Debra Brady, PTA president; Kathy Alexander, president-elect; and Michelle Binder, secretary, were very pleased with the displays about PTA and the response of the parents in joining PTA and supporting the sale of the school logo iron-on. "Ashley Explorer." Ex-plorer." There are about 480 students enrolled this year. Any children not registered should do so before 4 p.m. today. (Thursday). All kindergarten students must have birth cerfiticates and immunization records into the office immediately. We encourage all parents to join PTA this year. Have you heard about the school bond issue being voted on Sept . 9? So you will know w hat is being proposed, a special awareness program will be presented to the parents by the school board at Ashley Elementary on Wednesday. Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. A slide presentation presen-tation will be given and questions answered. an-swered. Back to school night will be later in September. The school will be a little different this year with the loss of a few teachers and students who will be attending Discovery Elementary. We are pleased to welcome Judy Tjorden. Debra Ramsey. Dorothy LeBeau. Sandra Scott, and Dan Praeuner to the school staff this year. David Rust, and Lowell Long, fourth grade; Val Mortensen and James Kinsey. fifth grade: and Ralph McMullin and Cody Jenkins, sixth grade. The media specialist will be Dorothv LeBeau. with Norda Cook over Resource and Jackie Wilkins with Title I. The aides will be Helen Massey. Sandra Scott and Kristie Sullivan. Dan Praeuner will be teaching band and music one day a week at Ashley. A special thanks is given to the past PTA president. Linda Mitchell and her officers for a job well done. They have continued to work all summer on the new playground equipment project. Brent Hanchett is the chairman of the project, which should be finished this year. As parents we need to support the completion of this project by donating some time and energy to show our appreciation to the Mitchells and Ilanchetts and other helpful parents who worked hard cutting, peeling and hauling logs for the school. Other events coming up are school pictures next month. Sept. 2 will be pictures for kindergarten a.m. to :ird grade. Sept. 4 will be kindergarten p.m. and fourth through sixth grades. Preschool Pre-school pictures will be taken Sept. 12 and 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Aspen 1 'holography. |
