Wayne Hollebeke was appointed ap-pointed Fire Chief with Gawain Snow as his assistant. There is more paperwork to be done, a central place to be located for the storage of equipment and the siren. Fire hydrant locations are being checked out. If we can obtain this goal, we should see a drop in our fire insurance. in-surance. The State Forest rangers are working with the community to acquire this goal. More information will come out as progress is made. Next on the agenda maybe the telephone service? Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Clark visited here Sunday from Roosevelt. Doug is the nephew of Jack Ruppe and Gladys Peterson. The young couple are planning plann-ing to leave soon for another year at BYU. The Tim Crows visited their family here on Sunday. Larry Moon and Miguel Vargis have left for California where they will attend at-tend college classes there. Mrs. Blanche Wilkins, Mrs. Velda Wilkins, Mrs. Margie Acklund, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Sessions, Dannett and Body, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gates and Mandy Lee went to Salt Lake City Saturday to do some shopping. The day wasn't complete though until they all toured the Hogle Zoo. The Dinosaur Monument had a special evening planned Sunday, Aug. 17, for their open house. They told about the founding of the quarry and showed movies and film strips. Refreshments were served. Wilbert Woody turned 16 this week and to celebrate his brother took him out to try for his first deer during bow season. Tonja Morrill, daughter of the Lyn Morrills had all the mutual girls and their mothers over Tuesday night for a Japanese party. Karu, a Japanese 4-H exchange student, helped plan the event. Tuesday, August 26, is the last day you can register for Primary elections. Jensen residents will register at the Blanche Wilkins residence. DUP will be held Thursday, Aug. 21, at Flossy McKnights home. It will be a picnic and will start at 2 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Walker took their mother, Ha Peterson, out to Salt Lake City this past week for a checkup. There will be a 'Visiting Teachers Workshop', this evening, Thurs., August, at 7:30 p.m. in the Jensen Ward Relief Society room. New districts and companions will be announced and special refreshments w ill be served. A genealogy class will begin September 7. If you are interested and would like to take it, contact Leon Moon. Friends and relatives were invited to an open house for Mr. Melvin Wilkins for his 91st birthday, Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Julian Massey home. The Don Christiansen family were here visiting relatives. Relief Society Homemaking day is Sept. 2, and Joleen Snow has the patterns pat-terns for making levis of all sizes. Labor Day is the last summer holiday of the season, also the annual Jensen Ward reunion day. Mr. and Mrs. James Moon are here from Pecos, Texas to visit their parents the Leon Moon family and other friends and relatives. The Primary held their closing social Wednesday at 2 p.m. There was a film shown, associated games played and refreshments served. |
