Show Missouri escapee ecjfpf ured in connection with burglary An escapee from the Missouri State Pre-Release Center in Tipton, Mo., was apprehended Tuesday morning and charged with two counts of aggravated burglary and three other Vernal burglaries. Apparently Ronald P. Grindheim was in the act of burglarizing Alley Oop's Restaurant and the connecting Gateway Lounge, when Al Rios, owner, entered the restaurant, Deputy Sheriff Jack Reynolds said. Grindheim attacked Rios, but Rios was able to control the suspect and telephone the police. Law officers took Grindheim into custody and charged him with two counts of aggrevated burglary. Following investigations by officers David Free, Cris Symes and Deputy Sheriff Larry Crawl, it was found that Grindheim escaped from the pre-release center at the Missouri State Prison and arrived in Vernal in a stolen car, July 26. The vehicle was found by Kevin Olsen, Utah Highway Patrol, two miles west of Vernal. Further investigation revealed that the escapee was involved in four other burglaries of the 7-11 Restaurant and the East Side Highway Husky on Aug. 11, the West Side Husky on Aug. 14 and an unreported burglary of the A&W Drive-in on Aug. 17, said Robert Downard, Vernal City Chief of Police. Under the direction of Jack . Reynolds, deputy sheriff, a search of room number five at the Dinaville Motel in Vernal uncovered items of stolen property, pro-perty, Downard said. Grindheim is currently incarcerated in the Uintah County Jail. He was arraigned ar-raigned before Judge Kenneth Ander-ton Ander-ton Tuesday afternoon. |
