Show McDonald's seeks bond to move into Vernal The Vernal City Council heard a presentation at council meeting Aug. 20, from McDonald's Drive-In who has approached the city about moving into Vernal. About two months ago, Paul Olsen f-rm Mi-nnnalH's rpmipsteri the citv to extend industrial revenue financing. The financing requests the city to bond to finance their establishment in the city to allow a lower interest rate, city officials report. At that time the council stated that it would only extend industrial revenue financings to businesses that would not be providing direct competition with existing businesses. They also stated that each application would be considered con-sidered on a case by case basis. Olsen has requested to be allowed to make a presentation to the council. That presentation was heard Wednesday. Other agenda items were the concerns of persons living on 450 North whose basements were flooded when a main water line broke. "There was somewhat of a communication com-munication breakdown between the contractor, the engineers, and the city. ..as to who would do what," says a city news release. In the same release the city promises to watch the contractor more closely to protect the residents of the city. "To avoid any more unnecessary delays," the city manager has recommended to the council to have Lloyd Winward and Co., do the FY-80 audit. It was previously planned to have Brady, Peterson and Assoc., do the audit. Three water connections were considered by the council. The DeGraff extension on East Highway 40, and the Ashton extension of East Highway 40 will be looked at. Also the Dave Ruger's Business Park on West Highway 40 has requested an extension. |
