Show School building bond questions and answers Editor's Note: The following question and answer column is the second of a four part series to be published prior to the Sept. 9 Primary election when the issue of approving a $10 million bond program will be presented to Uintah County voters. By Dr. Wayne Reid Supt. of Schools QUESTION : "Is a west side high school really necessary?" ANSWER: "Yes! Although there is a goodly amount of respect generated between the Duchesne Board of Education and the Uintah Board of Education, shared governance of any school continues to be a problem. Duchesne desires more Uintah funding to assist in both the MiO and CO.. yet Uintah citizens have no legally elected officials to turn to once any problems arise at school. The Board of Educations feels it wise to have all of our students under our own roof. The Duchesne Board has been fully appraised ap-praised of the situation. In a vast survey conducted in each community on the west side by local community members, the general bodv was definitely in favor of a high schooi. The present and past elementary building program also has not adequately handled the growth problems at Todd Elementary. Therefore, the projected high schooi would embody grades 9 through 12, West Jr. would be converted to a middle school grades 6 through 8. and Todd would be reduced to grades K through 5.
