Local film receives honor Last spring students of Uintah High School, an architect from Heber City, and a local filmmaker worked jointly to produce a film on the built environment (architecture) in Vernal. The film, sponsored by the Utah Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, was used at the National Training Workshop for Architects in the Schools (AIS) in New York last month. The AIS project director described the film as "an excellent film... (with) shots that were absolutely superb. Please congratulate con-gratulate Wally Goddard and the students." The film was the only one from this part of the country to be used at the workshop in N.Y. The Utah Arts Council was delighted with the film and is arranging for a screening in Vernal. Vernal has been a pioneer in student film production since 1976 when students at Uintah High School produced produc-ed "A School Odyssey" under the direction direc-tion of Trent Harris and Wally Goddard. God-dard. "A School Odyssey" was shown on television several times, was well-received well-received at the Utah Arts Council, and toured various film festivals. "Grave Expectations" is now in the final stages of production. It is a film that was produced by a USU film class taught by Mr. Goddard here in Vernal. |
