Show Vernal Glenda Landon I Phone 789-2417 J Joe Borens announce birth of twins Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Diane) Boren are the proud parents of twins, a boy , Joshua Leman, and a girl, Jody Liane, which were born January 31 in the local hospital. They were not due until April so were nearly 3 months premature. At birth Jody weighed 2 lbs. 8 oz., and Joshua, 2 lbs. 11 oz. They were taken to the University Medical Center and cared for there a month. Their mother stayed in Salt Lake City during that time to be near them. They were then transferred to McKay-Dee hospital in Ogden, and are now doing well. They were six weeks old last Thursday. Jody now weighs 3 lbs. 5 oz. and Joshua, 4 lbs. 1 oz. The twins are the Borens first children, and the parents hope to be able to bring them home in two or three weeks. The maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Ressler of Waynesboro, Penn., and paternal grandparents are Ellen Massey of Jensen and Boyd Boren of Gusher. Mike McKee of KVEL and his wife Cathy are rejoicing over the arrival of their first child, a girl, born Sunday, March 16. She weighed 5 lbs. 13 oz. and will be named Dana Lyn. Her proud grandparents are Mark and Jewell McKee of Vernal, and Neal and Catherine Domgaard of Gusher. Great grandparents are Harvey and Reva McKee and Carl and Marvel Gardiner and Elsie Jordan of Gusher. Steve Kropp of Logan is a guest this week at the home of John and June Christiansen during the USU spring vacation. Other students also home for the quarter break are Craig Hoff, Cydne and Brad Horrocks, Annette Richens and Lori McNeill from Logan, and Sue Brown from CEU in Price. SUSC students home for quarter break are Kathy Price, Marilee Oscarson, Chad Labrum, Sidney Workman, Work-man, Lori Thacker and Carolyn Hales. Carolyn Hales has been president this year of her Lambda Delta Sigma chapter, and she has been chosen inter-chapter inter-chapter president for next year. She will also serve in student Senate next year. Mrs. Micky (Kay) Newell was in the LDS Hospital last week for therapy treatments. She returned home Saturday and reports that she is feeling somewhat better. Their son Cecil is home from Logan for a w eck during the USU quarter break. Mr. and Mrs. Deri (Brenda) Pratt of Loveland, Colorado, came Friday for a five-day visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. Ray Smith. Since the Pratts are having spring vacation, they brought their family to go snowmobiling. Their four children are Christy, 11; Kellcy, 9; Corey, 6; and Trevor, 3. They expect to return home Wednesday. Out-of-town visitors who came for Mark Foley's farewell Sunday were Mrs. Carrie Wills, Matt's aunt and Keith and AlJean Foley of Roosevelt. After the meeting the Foleys served a dinner for about 20 family memlxrs. Mark will enter the Missionary Training Center in Provo on Thursday, March 20. He is going to the Dallas, Texas mission. Mr. and Mrs. Jack (Brenda) Klun are parents of a baby boy born March 9 in the local hospital. He weighed 8 lbs. 12 oz. and is 21 W inches long. He will be named Garrett Anthony, and is their third son. His two brothers are Brant, age 5, and Lance, 2. A baby boy was born March 9 to Kirk and Leah Harrison, their second son. He weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz. and was 2()'i inches long. He will be named Joshua Hank. His brother, Jacob Kirk, is 19 months old. His grandparents are Stanley Lou and Myrna Harrison and Kenneth and Connie Holmes, all of Vernal. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Goodrich, Elaine Goodrich and Tnmara Hawkins went to Salt Ijikc City Monday, March 17 to attend the wedding of Clydo Goodrich and Jill Sliepherd that day In the temple there. Following the ceremony they attended the wedding breakfast at (lie Chuck-a-Ramn, and then returned home that evening. Bishop and Mrs, Cal Pit' Reynolds are parents of a baby girl born March 11 in the University Medical Center In Salt Lake Clly. She weighed 5 lbs, 8 oz,, Is ID Inches long, and will be named Alison. She was welcomed home Monday by two brothers and two sisters: Kyle, 18; Blake, 13; MeriKay 10, and Beverly Begay, 13. Her grandparents grand-parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Adams and Zelda Reynolds. Students home from Snow College for quarter break are Greg Shuman, Luana Sessions, Lisa Taylor, Edith Christensen, Celia Chandler, Don Williams, Vicki White and Patricia Abegglen. Patricia has completed her year's work and will be home for the next six weeks. She will be transferring to B YU for her sophomore year. Three students from the Vernal area, Marianne Nelson, Sherilyn Jackson and David Watkins are on tour with the Snow College acapella choir in California during their spring break. The choir will present several concerts, and the students will also be able to visit some tourist attractions, such as Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm during the trip. A number of relatives of the Sowards and Morgan families came for the funeral of tiny Rebecca Morgan which was held Monday, March 17. The baby, a daughter of D.J. and Rebecca S. Morgan, was about five months old and passed away in a Salt Lake hospital following surgery for a heart condition. Those who came from out of town were Scott Sowards from USU in Logan, Paula Sowards from BYU in Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Allen (Jane S.) Tibbals, Mrs. Hazel Cannon, Mr. and Mrs. Harmon S. Cannon, and Mrs. Nola Harrison, all of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph D. Morgan, the baby's grandparents, Mrs. Delila Stanger, Miss Viora Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hobson, all of Malad, Idaho; Mrs. Arta Burgess of Orem, Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Scott and Cecil of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Beckstrom from Benjamin, Mr. and Mrs. Mick Oxborrow of Spanish Fork, Mrs. Geraldine Tovey and 2 children; and Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Kent and children Christy and Tommy from Hazelton, Idaho. |
