Uintah High School's girl cagers were behind by only four points with about four minutes remaining, but the Davis Darts outscored the Utes, 13 to 6, on their own homecourt in Kaysville to knock the Vernal team out of the 3-A State Girls' Basketball Tournament, Friday, by the score of 59 to 48. A free throw and a field goal by Kristy Kris-ty McNeill delivered an 11-10 lead to the Uintah Utes, but Cynthia Ford of Davis hit a free throw to knot up the game at 11-11. Rhonda Rhodes connected on a free throw and Darian Abegglen struck for a field goal to give the Utes a 14 to 11 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, Davis fired in two field goals for a 15-14 lead early in the second quarter. A two-pointer by Darian Abegglen Abeg-glen returned the lead in the game to Uintah, but Julie Peterson connected on a layup for a 17-16 Davis advantage. The Utes gained a three-point lead in the ball game when Kristy McNeill and Chris Mott tossed in two-pointers. Davis' Cynthia Ford flipped in a free throw, but a field goal by Kristy McNeill gave the Utes a four point lead of 22 to 18. Ford popped in a two-pointer, two-pointer, but Uintah regained a four point advantage of 24 to 20 when Rhonda Rhon-da Rhodes grabbed the ball on a jump ball and tossed it through the hoop. Davis' Martha Miller fired in a field goal, but two-pointers by Kristy McNeill and Teresa Smith gave Uintah four point leads of 26 to 22 and 28 to 24. Davis blanked Uintah, 4-0, in the rest of the quarter on a field goal by Julie Peterson and two free throws by Cyn- thia Ford to tie up the game at 28-1; " the end of the first half.
