Show County TV system praised Dear Editor: In response to the letter to the editor by Harry A. Neal in the March 6 issue of the Vernal Express; during the nine years which I lived in Vernal, I found a very few times when the county translator system provided a poor television picture. In most of these cases, high winds or ice storms caused power outages to the Tabby Mountain or Blue Mountain sites. I know of a number of instances where Joe LeBeau, the television technician responsible for the system, risked his life to travel to these remote sites during extremely adverse weather conditions to restore the television signals so that those of us in our warm, cozy homes could watch our favorite TV programs. I suggest that Mr. Neal check the direction which his antenna is facing, the condition of his lead in wire, and the condition of his television set to make sure they are not at fault. A qualified television technician could check the signal being received at his home to verify its strength. There are also areas near Vernal where hills shielded the signal and make reception poor or where buildings stand in the way of direct reception. Having the opportunity to watch channels 11 and 20 in the Salt Lake City areas, I would favor the recent proposal to add these stations to the translator system coverage of Duchesne and Uintah counties.
