Viewmont jumped out to a 10 to 8 lead in the first quarter and had a 24 to 22 advantage after two quarters. The score at the end of the third quarter was Viewmont, 34 and Woods Cross, 32. Viewmont put in 17 points in the fourth quarter and Woods Cross fired in 15 to make the final score: Viewmont, 51 and Woods Cross, 47. Debbie Asper was the top scorer for Viewmont with 22 points, but she fouled out with three minutes left in the game. However, Viewmont was able to put in free throws to protect its lead. The Viewmont crew hit 7 out of 9 free throws in the fourth quarter. Viewmont's Debbie Asper fired in 11 field goals for 22 points. Lisa Ballan-tyne Ballan-tyne put in 12 points, She hit four field goals and was 4 for 4 from the foul line. Stott put in ten points. Also scoring counters were Linda Eames, 3; Mitchell, Mit-chell, 2 and Steph Caputo, 2. Viewmont fired in 21 field goals and hit 9 out of 11 free throws. The top scorers for Woods Cross were Cleverly, 12 and Jardine, 12. Also scoring points were Martineau, 9; Peterson, 8 and Cottle, 6. Woods Cross tossed in 17 field goals and hit 13 out of 17 free throws. The Viewmont crew thumped Springville, 46 to 39; downed Cyprus, 56 to 38 and advanced into the championship cham-pionship contest when they toppled Ogden, 57 to 44. Woods Cross toppled Cedar City, 53-40; downed Box Elder, 39-38 and moved into the title game with a 53-43 win over Bear River, Friday. Other first round results were: Ogden, 69-Carbon, 42; Provo, 48-Uintah, 48-Uintah, 46; Cyprus, 54-Davis, 51; Box Elder, 54-Murray, 51; .Timpview, 48-West, 48-West, 43 and Bear River, 46-Highland, 42. Ogden defeated Provo in the second round, 63-50; Viewmont downed Cyprus, 56-38; Woods Cross nipped Box Elder. 39-38 and Bear River downed Timpview, 43-27. The tourney went from a 16 to 12-team tournament when Uintah downed Carbon, 45-33; Davis downed Springville, 58-42; Murray thumped Cedar City, 57 to 41 and Highland downed West, 56 to 48. s Cyprus, the first place team from Region Seven, was knocked out of the tournament when they were downed by Provo, 51 to 43, Friday. Box Elder thumped Timpview, 48 to 47. Davis advanced into the consolation title game when tney downed Uintah, 59 to 48 and Murray became the Darts' opponent when they downed Highland, 61 to 47. Bear River captured third place in the tournament when they downed Ogden, 57-50. Box Elder downed Provo, 47-43, for fourth place.
