Show Former Moab Gridder Speaks At Booster Club Banquet The annual Booster Club Banquet was held Tuesday evening, November Novem-ber 27th in the Home Ec Department of Grand County High School, honoring hon-oring the 1973 Red Devil Football squad. Following a lovely turkey tur-key dinner prepared by Miss Marian Dunkley and her Home Ec students, Booster Club President, Ward Curtis, introduced Red Devil coach, Glenn Richeson, who then spoke briefly of the football season, sea-son, and introduced his squad to Booster Club members and guests. Coach Del Ford, who coaches the Junior Varsity Var-sity ball players and assists as-sists Coach Richeson with Varsity squad, then introduced in-troduced his JV men, and briefly mentioned current basketball season and his hopes for the team. Following introduction of players, Coach Richeson Riche-son then introduced the evening's guest speaker: Mike Bynum, a Moab Red Devil of a few years ago. Mr. Bynum is a fine example ex-ample of what athletic involvement in-volvement can do for a young man, as his career has continued to be involved in-volved with athletics. Though he has graduated from Colorado University Law School and is attached at-tached to the Boulder County District Attorney's Attor-ney's staff, he has taken a leave of absence to coach Freshman Buffalos very successfully. In January Jan-uary he must decide if law or coaching is his destiny. Mr. Bynum, in addition to speaking of his Moab years, gave all the Red Devils and Booster's food for thought, when he spoke of "Prima Donna" players; play-ers; remarking, "There is no room for those that require the spotlight, either on the football field or in the world today all people need to work together to make a team successful, or community involvement worthwhile, and satisfying." The Banquet was adjourned ad-journed following Mr. By-num's By-num's remarks with athletes ath-letes spurred on toward successful basketball and wrestling seasons for the Red Devils. The Moab Booster Club meets the first and third Tuesday evening of every month for their regular meetings, meet-ings, and all interested persons are invited to attend. |
