Show Byron Rampton Will Seek Senate Seat Byron Rampton, Republican Repu-blican brother of Democratic Demo-cratic Gov. Calvin Rampton, Ramp-ton, has announced his candidacy for the republican repub-lican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat to be vacated va-cated next year by retiring retir-ing Sen. Wallace F. Bennett. Ben-nett. In announcing his candidacy can-didacy for the U. S. Senate Sen-ate he stated, 'I do so deeply aware of the great responsibility involved , and of the immense trust and confidence I am asking ask-ing the people of Utah to place in me.' His statement continues, contin-ues, 'By experience, training, trai-ning, and background, I believe I can competently discharge the duties of the office 1 seek. I believe that my views on the issues is-sues of today, of the necessity ne-cessity for individual work and accomplishment and of the need for the limitations of government involvement in our daily lives, would conform very closely to the opinion s and views of the great majority of the people of the State of Utah. 'I believe that my representation re-presentation in the United Un-ited States Senate would express the opinions and the feelings of our people. peo-ple. I was born and raised rais-ed in Utah and educated in her schools: but more importantly, I established my own business, and raised a family of six children in a Utah community. com-munity. In doing so. I have faced the same problems, pro-blems, the same questions, ques-tions, and the same difficulties dif-ficulties that face other Utah citizens in the conduct con-duct of their daily lives. I have lied with and sprung from the same environment, en-vironment, the same conditions, con-ditions, and the same situations si-tuations in which other Utah citizens are living and working. This background back-ground would result in the support and advocacy of those measures designed to advance the dreams, the hopes, and the aspirations aspi-rations that our people have for themselves and their children. |
