Show Thursday Launch Ends Fall Persh ing Series The Army has announced an-nounced that two Pershing Persh-ing Missiles will be fired fir-ed from Utah to New Mexico early Thursday morning to conclude the fall series of annual service ser-vice firings. Ten rounds have been fired from Green River to White Sands Missile Range in the series which began in September. Firing this week will be units of the Europe-based Europe-based 7th U. S. Army. Support is provided by Army units from White Sands, Ft. Sill, Okla.; and Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. The firings will bring the total number of Pershing Per-shing launches to about 280 rounds. Since tests began in I960, 210 rounds have been fired onto White Sands from various off-range off-range sites, while 68 of the rounds have been fired fir-ed at Cape Kennedy, Fla. Currently operational T-1A model Pershings produced by Martin-Marietta Aerospace Corp. of Orlando, Fla. are deployed deploy-ed with U. S. and NATO Defense Forces in Europe. Eur-ope. Range officials announced announc-ed that Pershing safety areas in Utah between Green River and Dead Horse Point State Park will be evacuated starting start-ing at 2 a.m. Thursday. At 2:35 a.m., roadblocks road-blocks will be set in safety saf-ety areas on Crystal Geyser, Gey-ser, Floy Wash, Dubin-ky Dubin-ky Well and Dead Horse Point roads. After the firings, participating par-ticipating troops and supply sup-ply personnel will begin preparations to evacuate evacu-ate the Geyser launch site near Green River, returning to Europe, Ft.
