Show Environmental Statement Befogs Prepared on Vast BLM A draft environmental impact statement is being prepared by Bureau of Land Management employees em-ployees of the U.S. Department De-partment of the Interior concerning the State of Utah indemnity selection applications for approximately approxi-mately 157,000 acres of land in eastern Utah. According to Paul L. Howard. BLM State Director Dir-ector for Utah, the area selected in Uintah County includes land rich in oil shale deposits and includes in-cludes the two areas in Utah designated by Secretary Se-cretary of the Interior Rogers C. B. Morton for prototype oil shale leases. The state has outstanding out-standing selection rights to 225.460.59 acres of public land. If the state's current selection applications appli-cations in Uintan County are approved, the 157, 017.58 acres would satisfy satis-fy a major portion of the remaining Federal committment. com-mittment.
