ENJOYS RODEO TOUR Jake Milton called his mother, Mrs. Lorin Milton, Mil-ton, and asked her to go with him on a rodeo tour of Nevada and California. Califor-nia. After that they enjoyed a week's visit with Mrs. Verna Milton and Mr. and Mrs. Bill McMillen in Arcadia and a day or two with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Ainsow rlh at Indio. Back to the circuit, Jake missed in Las Vegas, Ve-gas, his heeler had trouble troub-le making a catch. However, How-ever, he and his mother saw a sample of Las Vegas Ve-gas night life before the lights were dimmed. Jake has had a most successful year, lie has won $C.(1()0 at approved ropings, has won a saddle sad-dle at Colorado Springs early in November and has five buckles from Grand Junction. Meeker. Scott Ande r so n reported that the bill for the Christmas lights has been paid, and she brought back the note signed tv her, Mrs. Barbara Child's and Mrs. Baker to obtain the money for buv ing the lights. Enough was i eali ed at the LIGHT OCR TOWN celebration sponsored by the Posse Pals to retire the note. Mrs. Anderson J staled that there Is im money left over, but there are a few pledges and it was voted to hold this money to apply to the bill from Utah Power and Light for making the necessary ne-cessary adjustments to the present street wiring wir-ing through the business section. The City w ill pick up the tab, but if it runs more than the City is w illing il-ling to put out, this money mo-ney can be used. Mrs. Anderson also s tated that if a suitable storage place can be found for the papers, and if people will continue to bring them in to the Chevron Station, the Club will continue con-tinue to collect and send them in to Salt Lake City- The price has increased in-creased on waste paper, until it will be worthwhile worth-while as an on-goingpro-ject to make money for the club if the townspeople townspeo-ple want to support the program. It was decided since Mrs. Charlotte Seely was instrumental in getting the Posse Pals interes ted in tne Lr. i . l.itjii 1 OUR TOWN festival, and they in turn involved other ot-her organizations, that Woman's Club express appreciation with a gift that she and Bob can enjoy. en-joy. Mrs. Florence Howland How-land was appointed to select se-lect the gift, and she chose a fondue pot. since the Seelys are noted for their lovely parties. She and Mrs. Anderson presented pre-sented the gift to M r s. Seely on Monday afternoon. after-noon. Chairman Louise Sher-rill Sher-rill reported that the City Ci-ty crew worked for a full week on the Elgin Cemetery, Ce-metery, and it was plain to see where they left off. They burned weeds, straightened up lines, graded roads and otherwise other-wise smartened up the looks fo the south half of the cemetery. In the future, fu-ture, they ask that each person clean the weeds from around the head -stones, as this has to be done before weed burning can be done, and it takes most of their time. Mrs. Sheri ill also suggested sug-gested that something be done about dumping w rste at the cemetery. Aft e r discussion, it was decided deci-ded to see if suitable signs could be put up asking that people help keep the surroundings sur-roundings neat. She also asked that a letter of thanks be sent to the City Ci-ty Council for allowing city emplovees to do the much-needed work on the cemetery. It was pointed out that we have lost four or five members, and several suggestions to interest, more of the women of the town to join this active ac-tive service club were aired. It was decided that a concerted effort be made by the members to interest civic - mi n d e d women of the community to come out and lend a hand. The GRHS Basketball team will travel to Es-calante Es-calante on Friday, Dec. 7 for a repeat match with the Moquis. Last week in the Green River gym the Pirates won by a 92-63 92-63 margin after an exciting ex-citing and well-played game by all members of the Varsitv team. The Pikettes. GRHS Drill Team, performed at half-time half-time and thrilled the audience au-dience with their precision preci-sion marching. The junior varsitv game showed a losing' Pirate effort, but the Inns have playedpood ball in other games, and will soon be back in the winner's circle. The Pirates Pi-rates will stay overman in Fscalante. then travel to Salin.i on Saturday to meet the North Sevier Wolves. The Salina players play-ers are always tough. and a win the re would be a real boost for the Pirates hopes of gelling to tne Slate Tournament this vear.
