Show ONE MAN DROPS FROM CITY RACE W. W. Willey Quits, Leaving 8 in Field By PAUL STAPLES Withdrawal - of -one candidate from the commission contest featured fea-tured developments on Salt Lake's political front Tuesday, as other candidates advanced programs seeking Interest of voters In the forthcoming municipal election. W. W. Willey, who had announced an-nounced himself as a candidate for the commission, withdrew because be-cause of "business obligations and unforeseen conditions which have come up." This action narrowed the field of candidates seeking election to the two commission posts up at the elections to eight. Meanwhile, a preliminary step to the elections was being taken as officials conducted registration day. Offices throughout the city were open from 8 a. m. until p. m, and persons needing to register reg-ister were urged to do so. Only one more registration day, October Octo-ber 17, remains. J. Allen Crockett, young Democratic Demo-cratic leader and secretary to the state publie service commission, was named campaign manager for City Police Judge Reva Beck Bosons. Bo-sons. Mr. Crockett said Mrs. Bosons' campaign would be conducted with the aid of numerous women's groups who have volunteered services. Mrs. Bosons Is the only woman to enter the municipal race to date. |
