Show What the War Doesn't Do to Vacations! Mrs. Hastings Cut Hers Short their two daughters, Mrs. Virginia E. Von Krohm and children, and Miss Clarisse Ellis, who now lives in New York City. Right now the two daughters are on their way to the east, for Mrs. Von Krohm is going to visit in Philadelphia, Pa., for awhile, and Mias Ellis is going back to her New York home. Next week some tlm. Dr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Murphy will b returning re-turning to their home, 1288 Third avenue, which has been occupied bv Mlaa Ada J. Murphy, 463 East First South street, and Miss Virginia Vir-ginia Gurnsey, 1135 East South Temple street, while they have been vacationing. They have been - . - By PAT PATTERSON Mrs. A. F. Hastings' visit up at Fort Douglas with her parents, Colonel end Mrs. S. W. Williams, was perfectly wonderful, and then the war had to come along and sort of spoil things. You see, her home is in Honolulu, so she decided de-cided to cut her vacation trip a bit short before submarines began swarming the Pacific not that she's sure that they will, but she feels sure that she'll rest a whole lot easier if she gets back there in a hurry. Colonel and Mrs. Williams went down to Los Angeles with her to bid her a bon voyage, and will be coming back home again about next Saturday. Back to California to go on with her school work at Stanford university uni-versity at Palo Alto will b ro-ing ro-ing Miss Barbara C. Bintz on Saturday. Sat-urday. She'll be having company along the way, because one of her classmates there, Miss Helen May Howe, has been visiting here for quite aome time at her home, 1081 East South Temple street, and they will go on back to the coast together. Barbara has shown her guest a grand time while she's been here, for aside from a number of parties that have been given for her, they spent some time up in the Jackson Jack-son Hole region, where they wer. the guests at th. ranch of Mrs. Prentiss N. Gray, 29 South Stat, street, and her son, Sherman. Another Salt Lake City visitor who is here from the coast is Mrs. Richard S. Pollock of Los Angeles. Her little daughter. Julianne, is with her and together they are staying with Mrs. Pollock's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred U. Leonard, Leon-ard, 941 East Fifth South street Mr. Pollock will be coming here about the first week in October to stay awhile, and will then go on back with his family. Seems that everyone in the Ellis El-lis family is having a grand time vacationing. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Ellis Jr., 607 Second avenue, Just got back from the Golden Gate International exposition in San Francisco, and with them went |
