Show Utah Theater 'Varsity Show' Wins Acclaim Oh. boy. let's go to" college ! Between the University of Utah homecoming and "Varsity Show," which opened Wednesday night at the Utah theater, college atmosphere atmos-phere haa practically taken over the town. "Varsity Show" is Warner Broth- frm' Kiij foe fAll(pl miiaiCSl mm. edy fame and it's a good one. The show has a lilting freshness and appeal all Its own. Dick Powell is starred as the Brosdway musical show producer and alumnus of the good old college. Broke but still with a reputation, he gets a bid to stage the annual musical mu-sical comedy at the college and accepts, ac-cepts, only to run into difficulties with ancient Professor Walter Cat-lett. Cat-lett. who has his own atrocious Ideas of how a show should be staged. There's something doing every minute as Powll and his collegians overcome the professor to stage the'r own production, a knockout from start to finish, winding up on Broadway. Principal support for Powell Is Fred Waring and hia Pennsyl-vanlans, Pennsyl-vanlans, appearing in their first feature fea-ture motion picture.
