Show Wounded Rancher Critical After Blood Transfusion ST. GEORGE Roy Wood, 39, rancher residing on the Arizona "strip" south of St. George, was in critical condition in the St. George hospital Thursday after a blood transfusion given following his urminriin in atorkmen's feud in Arizona. The bullet that felled Wood, fired' 'during a gun battle that climaxed i a quarrel of long standing, had penetrated both lungs. Raymond Holt, chuck wagon cook, surrendered to the sheriff at Kingman, Aril , following Ihe shooting. Anthon B. Prince, St. George sheriff, was informed. He is being held at Kingman on open charges pending outcome of Wood's condition. Since the trouble took place on tho Findlay ranch in Arisona. Sheriff Sher-iff Prince aaid no investigation would be made by Utah authorities. Local ranchers said "bad blood" had existed between Wood and Holt for several years. Several aaid Wood had threatened to shoot Holt on many occasions and that he had posted signs on his property warning the "Findlay gang keep off." Both men were reportedly armed, but no witness could tell which fired first, although more than a dozen shots were fired. |
