Show FIGHT FOR CONTROL OF THE "PIN" RAILROAD WEISER. Ida., June 21. The fight for the control of the Pacific & Idaho Northern railroad between L C. Van-riper Van-riper and A. C. Cordly and other Eastern East-ern capitalists Is growing exciting. One of the directors of the road, acting act-ing under the advice of the road's counsel, went to Council, the terminus of the road, yesterday, with Sheriff Lansden. to take . possession of rails and other stock of the Idaho Construction Construc-tion company. They were met and warned by Chief Engineer Merrick and a gang of Greek laborers to keep off of the right of way. but when the Sheriff displayed his authority the Greeks fell back, but Merrick persisted until warned that he as violating the law. The fight is supposed to be between the Hill and Harrlman interests. If Mr. Vrnrlper gains control he will extend ex-tend the road to Grangeville to connect con-nect with the Northern Pacific. |
