FIELD DAY AT fORT DOUGLAS The annual field day events of the Fort Douglas soldiers were held on the athletic field a the Fort this morning. Without training and -In no condition except that obtained by the-dally exercises exer-cises of soldier life, the men were entered en-tered for the eventa Sergt Huddle-ston Huddle-ston of company H was the star athlete of the occasion and broke the post record rec-ord In the running high jump. He was awarded the prize as the winner of four of the seven events. Sergt Huddleston beat the post record rec-ord for the running high jump of five feet and one inch by jumping five feet five lnchea The . pole vault was scratched on account of the pole breaking at .the very last moment The winners of the events were as follows, each company having four men entered In the contest: 100-yard dash Private Marlon, company F. ' Running broad Jump Sergt. Huddleston, Hud-dleston, company H. 220-yard dash Private Hackett. Shot put, sixteen pounds Sergt Huddleston, company H. Running high jump Sergt. Huddleston, Huddle-ston, company H. , 440-yard dash Sergt. Huddleston. Company L secured first place in the wall scaling exhibition, and the one-mile relay went to company F.
