RECORD Of LOS ANGELES; POPULATION OF 200,080 ' - LOS ANGELES, Cal.. Nov. 28. Los An-: An-: steles Is the second city on the Paclflo coast and In California. The present population, pop-ulation, estimated on the school census recently completed, is in excess of 200.000, , an Increase of nearly 100 per cent since the Government census was completed In 1W0. At the end of 19f the population was 1701,000. . For the year ending June 80. Mp4. th S"2W postal receipts were in excess of '1350.000. f.. The city at this time boasts of fifteen commercial banks, ten of them being national na-tional and five organized under the State law. In addition the city had two trust companies. Up to December 31. 1904. the total bank deposits, exclusive of cash in savings Institutions, aggregated 126,787,368. Adding the savings bank deposits, makes a grand total of I61.177.S68. Building activity ac-tivity throughout the city has maintained . phenomenal record during the past five years, the total for 1906 to date being in excess of one million dollars in value over the same period last year. With the completion and active operation opera-tion of the Ban Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake railroad, Los Angeles now has transcontinental connection with the East by three separate and distinct systems. The Southern Pacific enters the city-by two routes from San Francisco, In addition addi-tion to direct communication East by what is known as the Sunset route.
