Show NEW YOKE'S GREAT LIBRARY. New York' will soon have the greatest library building: In the world. It will have capacity for 4,600.000 volumes, and its approximate cost will be 13,000,000; It occupies a frontage of two blocks facing on Fifth avenue, between Fortieth and Forty-second streets. Its site is that of the large city water reservoir on the east aide of Brant park. When completed it will be known as "The New York Public Library Astor. Lenox and Tllden Foundations." Foun-dations." It will be a combination of the Astor and Lenox libraries, strengthened by the bequest of Mr. Tllden. which will give a total endowment of about S3.500.000. The work of construction has been going on since 1P99. when the reservoir was removed re-moved and the foundation begun. The building, which is of marble, is 350 ft In length and 260 feet In width. The main reading-room will have capacity for ffiO readers and in addition there will be a general reading-room open to the public. . a children's reading-room, a periodical-room periodical-room and a newspaper-room.
