Show MILLIONS IN PROSPECT EORTHESECORPORATIONS FORMED HERE THIS YEAR The combined capital stock of all companies incorporated in Utah in the past year would be almost sufficient to build the Panama canal. This is only a paper showing of expected wealth, but getting down to a working basis shows that companies whose holdings amount to millions have been incorporated. From the' new incorporations alone the office of Secretary of State Tingey has netted the State over $30,000 in the past year. The total amount of capital stock of the 382 companies incorporated amounts to ell7.768.211. These companies com-panies are assessed 25 cents on each 1000 worth of stock and $5 as a filing fee. The Largest Fee Paid. The largest fee paid for a new incorporation incor-poration was that of the Western Electric Elec-tric company of Chicago, which was filed early In the year. The company is incorporated for $15,000,000. The fee paid was $3755. Larger fees were paid for Increased capital stock of existing companies, but these do not figure in the total. . Some of the largest interests to incorporate in-corporate in Utah in the past year was the sugar, industry. Four new sugar companies, with a combined capital stock of $8,600,000. came into existence. Insurance Concerns. Another noticeable feature of the Incorporations In-corporations this year is that a large number of insurance and fraternal organizations or-ganizations have filed incorporation papers in the State. Development companies com-panies for purposes of engaging in mining mi-ning and farming have been numerous. With the development companies are the improvement concerns and a large number of these became incorporated this year. Mining Incorporations. Salt. Lake City takes the lead as a mining center and during the year fifty-six new mining companies have been incorporated with Salt Lake City as their principal - place of business. The combined capital stock of these companies amounts to more than $25,-000,000. $25,-000,000. The number of new mining companies entered on the books of the Secretary of State's office In the past year has been 101. of this number forty had their principal place of business located outside out-side of Salt Lake City, but In Utah. Only five mining corporations from outside the State filed articles of Incorporation. In-corporation. The number of mercantile institutions incorporated was twenty-eight. Three new telephone companies were formed, three creamery comnorations were incorporated in-corporated and the number of railways that filed papers was four. Some Odd Corporations. All sorts of concerns, were given existence. ex-istence. Probably the oddest is an arid farm company which intends to do business bus-iness in an agricultural line without the aid of Irrigation. Then there was an automatic gate company and an air lift pump company. The banking Industry has received eight new corporations into Its realm. All were outside of Salt Lake City. The Irrigation industry added nineteen more companies to its list. For manufacturing purposes ten new companies were incorporated. Salt Lake City get" five of them nnd the other five go to other cities in the State. Ten drug companies were Incorporated Incorporat-ed this year. Of this number four have their principal place of business in Salt Lake City and six are in cities of the State. Religious Organizations. Religion also holds a big place in the incorporations filed with the Secretary, of State. This year twenty-five churches were Incorporated. Of this number the Mormons got eighteen. Christian Scientists Scien-tists four, and the other three to various vari-ous organisations. The flour Industry had four new companies com-panies added to the already long list of milling companies that now do business In Utah. The social organizations known as clubs had three of their number incorporated incor-porated this year and two new duck clubs also came Into existence. In Million-Dollar Class.' Of the number of companies incorporated, incor-porated, eighteen place their capital stock at $1,000,000 or more. The following follow-ing companies come in that class: Ka-wich Ka-wich King Mining company. Salt Lfike City, $1,000,000: Las Vegas & Tonopah Railroad company. Salt Lake City. $4,000,000; Liverpool and London and Globe Insurance company. London, Kngland. $10,000,000: Montana-Goldfield Mining company. Salt Lake City, $1,000,-000: $1,000,-000: Nevada-Grande Mining and Improvement Im-provement company, Ogden, $1,000,000; Inyo Gold Mining company, Provo, $1,000,000: Shawmont Consolidated Copper Cop-per company. O.. $1,235,000; Kimberly Mining company, Elko, Nev., $s;ooo.ooo. Increases in Capital Stock. During the year thirty-six companies have Increased their capital stock. The total amount of Increased stock, which Is a good Indication of the prosperity of business, is still $111,737,000. The largest Increase in capital stock was that of the Union- Pacific Railroad company, com-pany, which on Mav !) increased its capital cap-ital stock an even $100,000,000. The capital cap-ital stock was increased from $296,178.-700 $296,178.-700 to $386,178,700. This is the largest Increase in capitul stock ever recorded and for its recording the largest fe of the yearvas paid. The fee was $2.".O03. The nPlct largest increase in capital stock this year was the Union Savings and Investment company, which increased in-creased its capital stock from $1,000,000 to 4.000.000. The third h-aviest increase in-crease was the Idaho Sugar comnanv, which increased its stock from $3,000,-000 $3,000,-000 to $5,000,000. Three mining companies increased their capita stock a million or more. The Kearns-Kelth Mining company and the Halifax-Tonopah Mining company Increased their capital stock $1,500,000. In the banking business Walker Bros., bankers, added $50,000 more stock to its former capital stoc k. $200,000. The capital cap-ital stock of the Henry Dinwoodey Furniture Fur-niture company was also Increased from $800.00 Oto $1,500,000. |
