There was a revival of activity yesterday both in the criminal investigation and the civil toeeedings consequent upon the death f Mrs. Xlargarette Todd, the wealthy New York woman found manjrled on Whe Reading tracks in Philadelphia on Tr( tobv?r 2". Theron Davis, one of the attorneys for Mrs. Kosalle Tousey. Mrs. Todd's daughter, spent the day in Philadelphia following strong clues, which are expected ex-pected to reveal who the Dersons were vho were with Mrs. Todd on the night ft her death, including a man who met her at the railroad station In that city. Satisfactory Progress. Mr Dav1 returned from Philadelphia last iukIh. "T made satisfactory progreae." he said, '"but do not feel Justified as yet In divulging the facts or giving any intimation. of them. Such a course would be too likely to defeat the ends of Justice." In this city Ingersoll Lockwood, for many years the Intimate friend and legal adviser of the dead woman, produced pro-duced three documents purporting to convey portions of her property. Two of these were assignments of mortgages, mort-gages, the existence of which was unknown un-known to Mrs. Tousey or her attorneys. They were dated In 1904, and transferred trans-ferred a mortgage for 150,000 and one for $40,000 from Mrs. Todd to Lockwood himself. Served on Trust Company. A copy of the third document was served by Mr. Lockwood upon the Lincoln Trust company, temporary administrator ad-ministrator of the estate, yesterday. It is the deed of trust by which Mr. Lock-wood Lock-wood some time ago claimed possession-of possession-of Mrs. Todd's personal estate-, amounting amount-ing by his own admission to more than $100,000. The deed makes. Mr. Lockwood trustee trus-tee of the entire personal estate. Instructs In-structs him to iaveat the funds, and from the income pay Jennie M. Paine, at one time Mrs. Todd's maid. $1000, keep $1000 anlrually f himself, and turn over the balance of the Income to Mrs. Tousey. The trust terminates on Mr. Lock-wood's Lock-wood's death. |
