Show JOBS REPORTED INCREASING IN UTAH COUNTY Trends in labor demand in relation rela-tion to supply in various skilled as well as unskilled workers, changes with almost unbelievable speed, H. F. Tucker, manager of the United State Employment service ser-vice in Provo, said today For example, ex-ample, the -supply of workers registered reg-istered with USES is less than one month ago while demand by non-seasonal employers has increased in-creased greatly. It is not an uncommon thing for this office to receive an order for from 50 to 100 workers from one employer, which is a condition condi-tion that .was unheard of a few months ago. What makes this demand de-mand even more attractive is the fact that they are for steady employment em-ployment where formerly much of the demand was for jobs outside the area served by this off ice some even out of the state. However, How-ever, this does not mean that the demand for workers outside the state or area has decreasd, but only that we have more local offers of wprk. Because of this increased activity activ-ity in local industry, fewer workers work-ers should find it necessary to migrate to , other areas where housing, in many cases, is more critical than in Utah county. To bear ' out these remarks, Mr. Tucker said that in checking over the orders in the. office today, there was a local demand for 300 male workers in addition to numerous openings for women. Most of the demand for female workers is in particular fields such as clerical, sales, and service. From present demands it can readily be seen that work opportunities oppor-tunities for both men and women are increasing and unemployment should correspondingly decrease. |
