Show POOLING PROJECT SAVES CROPS AT MAPLETON An expensive washout and loss of water to crops has been prevented pre-vented by a construction which Utah county farmers have completed com-pleted this year. Under the Maple-ton Maple-ton Irrigation company pooling agreement, a group of farmers put in a concrete covered flume. When a flood came down a short time ago, the water and mud and debris passed over the canal without with-out damage. Had it not been for the covered flume, the canal would have been washed out and the the farms under the canal would have been without water. 1 This would have meant an , expensive repair job on the canal and crops would have suffered for lack of water. According to S. Lavell Bird, of Mapleton, chairman of the Utah County AAA committee, this is but one example of how the agricultural ag-ricultural ' conservation program is helping farmers to meet their problems. |
