Show NEBO SCHOOL BUSES ARE IN BAD SHAPE Highway Patrolman Finds Fire Gun Filled With Distillate On School Bus Nebo school district school buses bus-es were the subject of much adverse ad-verse comment this week following follow-ing an inspection of the buses by the state highway patrol. According to Melvin Grant of American Fork, who made the inspection, the Nebo school dis-. trict buses are in deplorable condition. con-dition. In fact, he stated, of all the school buses examined thus far in sections of the state from here south and southeast to the Colorado border, those of Nebo district fall , in the lowest standard. stan-dard. He found defective brakes as well as many other cases of neglect in practically every bus examined. An example of negligence was seen when Patrolman Grant found the Pyrine gun on one of the school buses filled with distillate instead of tetrachloride gas. He said that in case of a fire on this bus, the spraying of distillate over the blaze would undoubtedly have caused considerable damage. The gun was taken from the bus and was being held at the sheriff's office Wednesday, pending further investigation. It was painted out , by the patrolman pa-trolman that a number of the buses are owned and operated by individuals who are under contract con-tract with the Nebo school board, while other buses, approximately 28, are operated by the school district. |
