Show Record Outlay Is Reported For New Plants Despite government restrictions on new construction, and shortages short-ages of many types of machinery, American industry's expenditures on new plant and equipment have been running at an all-time record rate this year. Previous peak year for such expenditures ex-penditures by private concerns was 1941, when they aggregated $8,300,000,000. In the first half of this year, spending on new plant and equipment exceeded $4,500,-000,000 $4,500,-000,000 or at an annual rate of over $9,000,000,000. |
