Show MORE ARRESTS IN STATE FOR GAME VIOLATIONS There have been 1094 arrests in the State of Utah for illegal hunting hunt-ing and fishing or violations pertaining per-taining to fish and game for 1947, Ross Leonard, State Fish and Game Director, announced. These arrests vary from failure to report in at the checking stations sta-tions to shooting 70 birds on a four-limit duck hunt. Among the latest arrests was the apprehension of an elk poacher poach-er who had two pieces of elk in his possession and was carrying a gun on the state preserve. He was fined $275.00. When the final tabulation for the year is made, the arrest docket is expected to exceed the 1150 mark. This is several hundred more arrests than ever recorded before in this state, Mr. Leonard said. Reason for the high mark, the game chief explained, is increased hunting, additional wardens, better I cooperation among sportsmen in reporting violations. j |
