"It was through the March of Dimes that I was able to go to Warm Springs, Ga." said Carolee Wednesday, Wednes-day, as she smiled her appreciation of all that had been done for her. Although Carolee is handicapped in walking, her pleasant personality- and smile, coupled with a determination to make the best of everything, will get her places. A student in the Ninth grade, Carolee is also taking part Tenth grade subjects and excells in her typing classes. A talented musician, she plays the electric guitar and only recently was judged the outstanding guitar student in Utah at a musical festival in Salt Lake City, where she was presented with a lovely music stand and $10 cash award. Carolee, Wed nesday, had been asked by Frank Emery, chairman chair-man of the Utah Foundation, to appear in a public program in Og-den Og-den on January 21, to assist with their dime fund drive. Springville's March of Dimes campaign will get underway today, to-day, January 15, and continue through the remainder of the month, according to Ray Klauck, city chairman, who will be assisted by Paul Walker and Victor Frandsen, representing the schools. The ladies' clubs will also assist in the drive, according to present plans. Springville has' had her share or even more than her share of victims of this dread disease, and it is expected that every individual will do his part in raising funds to carry on treatments for those people now suffering from polio, and make possible the study of causes and cures' of the malady. Dime fund boxes will be placed in all business houses, and everyone is asked to make a contribution during the campaign. Also students in the various schools will be urged to make their voluntary donations' to the March of Dimes. |
